The Hocking Hills Wilderness Adventure Trip is a great opportunity for exciting outdoor adventures in one of the premier state parks in Ohio. Highlights of this trip include an adrenaline-pumping canopy zip-line tour, canoeing down the Hocking Hills River, and multiple hikes to explore caves, waterfalls, and scenic trails. Campers will spend three nights in tents or hammocks at the park campground and enjoy campfires and devotions each evening.

As with all Adventure Trips, we'll explore what it means to know and be in relationship with the awesome and powerful Creator of the environments we're enjoying.

Key Activities: Hiking, camping, ziplining, canoeing, swimming, campfire cooking, and much more. Also includes Camp Carl's climbing wall and tube riding on West Branch Lake.

Join us for white water rafting and a leisurely bike trek on the historic and scenic Great Allegheny Passage which winds through southwest PA and connects Pittsburgh to Cumberland, MD. We'll bike for 3 days on this relatively flat trail through the rustic outdoors and cross the Eastern Continental Divide where we'll have a spectacular view of the Cumberland Gap. Then, we'll go white water rafting though Class III and IV rapids on the Youghiogheny River.

Key Activities: Biking, white water rafting, camping, swimming, campfire cooking, and much more. Also includes Camp Carl's climbing wall and tube riding on West Branch Lake.

Known as one of the premier climbing destinations east of the Mississippi and home to multiple natural arches, the Red River Gorge is a must-visit climbers and backpackers. We'll spend 4 days and 3 nights at the gorge climbing and rappelling the gorge's renown rock walls and hiking to some of the awe-inspiring natural arches. All climbing is done using the "via Ferrata" system of cables and personal harnesses to ensure safe climbing.

DETAILS:


Spend 4 days and 3 nights canoeing on the Au Sable River which runs 138 miles through the northern Lower Pennisula of Michigan to Lake Huron. The river flows through great outdoor scenery and a number of towns, and we will portage the canoes and gear past a few dams as well. And, the Au Sable offers some of the best trout fishing east of the Rockies, so you'll learn to catch and cook your own dinner as well as many other outdoor skills.

Giddy Up!  We’re offering an excellent trail riding and instructional opportunity. You will ride well trained and responsive horses and you can learn how to interact with your horse for a meaningful riding and camping experience. This trail riding trip will be located in the West Branch State Park.  Besides making close friends, you and your assigned horse will become best buddies! You’ll cook dinner around the fire, sleep in hammocks and tents, and learn the basics in a variety of outdoor adventures.

Leadership Camps

Leadership campers gain volunteer experience as they live and work at camp, handling the foundational aspects of camp maintenance, food service, luggage logistics, and other projects and learning what it means to truly serve with Christ as our example.

These weeks provide an unparalleled opportunity to grow spiritually through discipleship, in-depth inductive Bible study, daily quiet times, weekly extended time alone with God, worship, and life-changing messages.

This unique time away from the distractions of the world provides an environment ideal for developing meaningful, lasting friendships rooted in Christ as campers work, live, and play alongside like-minded campers.

Surrounded by the great outdoors, Leadership Crew campers have amazing opportunities to adventure and explore as they hike, kayak, swim, and participate in evening theme night games.

DETAILS:

All Leadership Crew campers can expect to learn valuable lessons in hard work, teamwork, camp operations, and facility maintenance. The Leadership Crew Team works under the direction of full-time Camp Carl staff, and plays a crucial role in the upkeep, appearance, ministry and outreach of Camp Carl. All necessary training is provided.

Limited to 10 campers per week.

Camp Carl will do a serving assessment for every Leadership Crew member after each week to help their personal development.

Looking to someday work on staff at Camp Carl as a Wrangler? This is the training you’ll need to be eligible to join our summer staff. This camp will work under the direction of our horse barn manager and receive all the necessary training to become a wrangler. Camp Carl Wrangler staff will do an assessment of every WIT to help their personal development.
