Overnight campers get to slide across West Branch in a tube, tackle indoor and outdoor climbing elements, swim in a pool, climb and tumble on lake inflatables, ride any of our 50 horses, hike through our unique creek, attempt to hit a target with a bow and arrow, along with tons of other surprises.

Electives offered for Elementary Kids Week

Western horse trail ride and dinner package: Take an evening ride on one of our 9 horse trails to the outpost for a western dinner over the fire. (cost: $30, 2+ hour experience)

Swimming lessons: If you are a non-swimmer or feel insecure in the water, we strongly encourage you to sign up for this elective. Campers who choose this elective will learn to swim under the patient guidance of Camp Carl's waterfront instructors and lifeguards. (Cost: $30, 5 hours of instruction)

Fishing: Spend some time testing out your luck at Camp Carl’s silver lake. We provide the instruction, rods, reels, bait and the camera shots to tell the stories. (Cost: $15, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days)

Pottery wheel clay building: Let your creativity go wild! In Camp Carl's pottery elective, campers will learn different pottery techniques by experienced instructors. Campers will be able to form an unlimited variety of items using these techniques with clay. Once campers have created their masterpieces, they will glaze and fire their products. The outcome will be amazing! (Cost: $25, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days)

Piano/Voice Lessons: This elective, for all ability levels will give campers a chance to improve their playing/singing skills and develop new ones. Led by experienced musicians; campers will gain confidence in their God given talents and given opportunities to share what they have learned. (Cost: $25, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days)

Arts & Crafts: Campers will work on various arts and crafts projects each day. Fabric Arts, Duct Tape Designs, Walking Stick, Wood Burning. (Cost: $30, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days)

Wood Shop: Learn to use plans, design your own patterns, measure and cut the needed supplies, and construct a project in the wood shop. (Cost: $30, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days)

Drone Racing: Learn how to operate, maneuver, and race an airborne drone as you complete against others to navigate various obstacles. (Cost: $25, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days)

Outdoor Wilderness Construction: Focusing on the basic survival tactics of constructing bridges, tables, shelters and stools, campers in the outdoor wilderness construction will work together to create their very own structure. By combining nature and man-made tools along with skill you can build just about anything! In this elective, campers will learn the essential skills of pioneering and explore their imagination in creating with simple resources. (Cost: $20, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days)

Horseback Riding Lessons: Saddle up and be a part of Camp Carl's horsemanship program. This course is for the beginner to intermediate rider. You will receive small group instruction on western pleasure riding techniques taught in our riding arenas. You will learn how to care for horses, the different tack that is used, how to saddle a horse and more. Includes 4 one hour sessions. (Cost: $50)

Sports Elective: Campers will rotate playing a different sport each day. (Cost: $25)

Guitar Lessons: For campers who want to try their hand at guitar, this class teaches the basics of strumming patterns, chords, and more.  Guitars are provided fro each camper. (Cost: $25, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days)

Middle school campers can enjoy tubing at West Branch, the tower and zipline experience, the cat walk, the ascent of the pamper pole, daily pool time, living wild and free on lake inflatables, paddle boards, gaga ball, riding any of our 50 horses, attempting to hit a target with a bow and arrow, along with a myriad of other surprises.

Paintball: Grab your friends and get ready to battle it out in Camp Carl’s woods! Learn the different rules and strategies to be at the top of your game. Our paintball course showcases unique obstacles to challenge even the expert player and offers hours of fun for campers ages 12 and older. Campers who choose to participate in paintball should bring baggy long sleeve shirts and pants. Parents and campers alike should be aware that being hit by a paintball, even while wearing baggy clothes and safety gear, will most likely result in welting and/or bruising. (Cost: $30, 1.5 hours experience)

Grill Master Class – Come learn or improve on your grilling skills while making hamburgers, tasty chicken, steak skewers and more! Grill masters offered at Camp Carl's new culinary institute will focus on meat storage and preparation, temperature control, and the fine art of grilling meat. This elective is sure to be a hit! (Cost: $30, 4 hours experience, 1 hour for 4 days, eat what you cook!)

Piano/Voice Lessons: This elective, for all ability levels will give campers a chance to improve their playing/singing skills and develop new ones. Photography: (High School) 4 Campers that take digital photography will learn the basics of camera operation, composition, and photo editing. Campers will work with an instructor to create an online gallery of digital photographs.(Cost: $25)

DETAILS:


This class is limited to eight campers per week. You will spend every day improving your waterskiing skills. You and five others will have your own private Camp Carl boat and instructor at West Branch State Park Lake. The skiing day will last from approximately from 9am til noon for 5 consecutive days. After lunch, you will be able to enjoy all the other activities that Camp Carl has to offer (Horseback Riding, Ziplining, Paintball, Swimming, ect..) All campers that participate in the Skiing Camp will be required to wear a long sleeve rash guard while on the lake.

Limited to 8 campers per week.

Minimum of 4 campers per week. Ask friends to join with you.

Camp Carl Skiing Camp

NEW Adventure Trips and Leadership Camps Available for High School Campers.

This Equine Camp will be a major hit for any campers who love horses!

The goals you will work towards is to how to safety tie, groom, saddle and bridle, mount and ride a horse both in the arena and out on the trail. You will also aim toward controlling your horse at a walk and trot and learn the different trot positions. We will teach you how to prepare for and enjoy a trail ride and how to secure your horse at a stopover.

You and your horse will develop a unique partnership, as you better understand his/her nature and develop more balance throughout the week.

Ages 8 & 9 (One week only)

For Beginners

Is there an adventurer inside of you waiting to be released? Do you get excited about sleeping in a tent, climbing a towering rock or paddling down a river, but don’t have much experience? Base Camp could be just the adventure you’re looking for; consider it “Outdoor Adventure 101.” At Base Camp, you’ll participate in many of camp’s most exciting activities while spending your nights at our Outpost camping area. You’ll cook dinner around the fire, sleep in hammocks and tents, and learn the basics in a variety of outdoor adventures.
 
Half of the day will be spent like a normal camp week, while the other half you’ll learn about different skills for outdoor adventures. You’ll learn the basics of kayaking, climbing, backpacking, mountain biking and wilderness exploration without missing the major events taking place at camp that week. You’ll also get to test your new skills when you take on the Wilderness Survival Challenge.
