First things first… explore our website and our social media. This summer opportunity is like none other! However, it’s not for everyone. Be sure to watch our 2017 vimeo videos and get a sense of who we are. The length of staff contracts depends based on position, but every staff member is required to attend staff training which runs from May 21 - June 8 for most positions. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
1. Apply online
Click the link at the bottom of this page to begin your online application. You will be asked to create an account if you don’t already have one, and you will have the option to save your progress and return to the application to complete it at a later date. We will not review incomplete applications.
2. We contact your references
We want to know who you are around other people and past employers. Your online application will ask you for 3 different types of references. You will not be able to move forward in the application process until all 3 references are completed.
3. We will contact you once your references have been received
Once we hear back from your references, we will contact you by text and an email to set you up for your online SparkHire video interview. If we do not feel that you are a good match for camp or if we do not have available positions, we may send you an email thanking you for applying and letting you know that we will not pursue your application further at that time.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about where you stand in the process as we will receive well over 150 applications in the span of a few months. If we don’t hear back from your references, we will send you a weekly reminder by text or email and ask for your help in contacting them. Email email@example.com with questions regarding the application process.
Our video application takes place on SparkHire, a web-based interview platform. You will have a link to complete your one-way video interview at your convenience. You will log in to the SparkHire website, and you will answer ten questions. The camera on your computer, iPad, or phone will record video of you answering each question, and you will be able to view your answers before you submit them. It may sound intimidating, but it’s an easy process! Plan on this interview taking approximately 30 minutes to complete.
5. We will contact you within one week of your video application
If your video interview is successful and we still feel that you may be a good fit for one of our available positions, we will email you to schedule a time for your face-to-face interview. We conduct the face-to-face interview at Camp Carlor at your college or university. If not, we will be using the live interview feature on SparkHire, which is similar to Skype or FaceTime.
6. Formal Interview
Most formal interviews will be completed out at Camp Carl or your college or university. However, if scheduling doesn’t allow for a face-to-face interview, the interview may need to be over a video platform. Interviews typically last 30-45 minutes. Come prepared to discuss past experiences and how they shaped your character and have prepared you to work at camp. This is a great time to ask any questions about our positions or details of the summer.
7. Interview follow up e-mail within one week of your formal interview
This email will contain information about when you can expect to hear a final hiring decision from us and will invite you to stay in contact with us throughout this process.
8. Final hiring decision
We will contact you by phone or email with our final hiring decision.
